Reflexology FAQ
Where can I have my treatment?
I offer clients the choice of coming to my relaxing treatment room in Stoneleigh, near Epsom or staying in their own home. If you opt for a home visit, I will bring all the equipment required with me including a special reclining chair, towels and relaxing music.
What happens during a treatment?
Treatment begins by going through a health questionnaire together to identify the key areas of importance for the client. You will take off your shoes and socks and be seated on a comfortable reclining chair and covered with a blanket. The feet will be gently massaged and this is normally a very relaxing experience. Occasionally you may feel areas of tenderness on the feet, this is usually an indication of an imbalance in the area of the body to which that part of the foot relates. Reflexology uses a map of the body which is reflected on the feet to detect imbalances and massaging these areas aims to restore balance to the body. Thai Foot Massage involves the gentle stretching and massaging of the feet and lower legs so loose fitting trousers or shorts are recommended. Many people fall asleep during their treatment as it is very relaxing.
How will I feel after a treatment?
Reflexology aims to re-balance the body, reduce tension, improve the blood supply and eliminate toxins so sometimes after your first treatment the body will start a de-tox process. This can involve you feeling lethargic, having a headache and going to the toilet more often. This is a natural process and will come on within 24 hours of the treatment. It doesn’t happen to all clients but it is good to be aware of the symptoms in case you do experience it. The key thing to do if you are de-toxing is to drink plenty of water and remember that these symptoms signify that your body is cleansing itself which is a positive thing.
Health and safety and mobility issues
If you have mobility issues and find it difficult to get in and out of a chair or have difficulty climbing stairs, please let me know when booking your treatment.
If you suspect your weight may be over 23 stone/150kg please let me know before booking your treatment. The La Fuma chair I use has a safety limit of 150kg but there are alternatives we can discuss so you can have your treatment safely and in comfort.
Allergies
I have two cockapoo dogs which have a non-shedding coat that produces less dander. Dander, which clings to pet hair, is what causes most pet allergies in people. Cockapoos are one of the breeds known as hypoallergenic (although no dog is 100% hypoallergenic). If you are allergic to anything that may be in a cream or balm eg coconut oil or if you are highly sensitive to smells like candles, or have a severe allergy (eg nuts) then please let me know in advance.
If you have any issues you are concerned about regarding your treatment, please do get in touch. There is usually a way around most issues!
Can I have reflexology and counselling at the same time?
Unfortunately not. Combining counselling and reflexology in the same session would be challenging for several reasons, both practical and psychological.
Trying to fully engage in both at the same time would split my attention and reduce the effectiveness of each.
Can I be a reflexology client AND a counselling client?
Yes. Being both a counselling and reflexology client can be highly beneficial, as each modality supports well-being in complementary ways. Counselling supports mental and emotional well-being and Reflexology supports physical and energetic balance. Together, they address the whole person - mind and body.
Counselling FAQ
Where can I have my session?
I offer clients the choice of coming to me in Stoneleigh, near Epsom or staying at home and having an online session. I also offer Walk and Talk Therapy which combines the benefits of being out in nature with a more relaxed, informal style of talking therapy.
What is therapy?
Therapy (or counselling) is a collaborative process in which the therapist works with the client to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed or want a safe space to discuss life’s challenges, past and present, then therapy may be what you need to help you move forward.
How long will I need to have counselling for?
The answer to this depends on your individual situation but counselling support can vary from a handful of sessions to a long term treatment plan. We will discuss this together and also review our progress at regular intervals. Ultimately, you decide what you want to do.
Usually counselling is initially offered as weekly 50 minute sessions. The frequency can change over time depending on your needs and progress. We can also be flexible if required.
What is pluralistic counselling?
Pluralistic counselling draws on a variety of therapeutic techniques to offer clients therapy that can be tailored to each person’s individual needs. It recognises that different therapies can be beneficial to different people at different times. It is a flexible approach combining methods including the Psychodynamic model, CBT and Humanistic psychology principles all into one adaptive, collaborative therapy.
How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?
It’s important that you feel comfortable with your therapist and that they are offering a service you feel suits your needs. I offer all my clients a free 20 minute Discovery call so you can ask any questions you might have and to help you decide if I am the right therapist for you.

If you have mobility issues that I might need to be aware of, please let me know when booking your session.
